Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer Breaks Avengers: Endgame's Viewing Record

The first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home beats the viewership record of fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe title Avengers: Endgame.

The first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home beats the viewership record of fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe title Avengers: Endgame. The 2019 chapter in the MCU served as the finale of the Infinity Saga as the surviving members of the Avengers look for a way to reverse the effects of Thanos' devastating snap in Avengers: Infinity War and bring back the half of civilization lost. Avengers: Endgame broke numerous records upon its release, grossing over $2.798 billion worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing film of all-time, though was dethroned shortly after by James Cameron's Avatar during pandemic re-releases.

Spider-Man: No Way Home sees Tom Holland return as the titular webslinger in the wake of the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home in which the villainous Mysterio ousted his identity as Peter Parker to the world and framed him for his murder. Finding no other options to fix things, Parker turns to Dr. Stephen Strange for help by performing a spell to erase everyone's memory of his secret identity. The spell goes awry, however, and Parker is forced to face off against villains from other universes, including Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx's Electro and Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin. Following the trailer's arrival on Monday, a new report from Deadline reveals that the first teaser for Spider-Man: No Way Home has set a new viewership record with over 355.5 million global views within its first 24 hours, beating out fellow MCU film Avengers: Endgame's 289 million. The teaser trailer also more than doubled the 24-hour viewership of its predecessor, Spider-Man: Far From Home, which drew in 135 million views. Additionally, the video set a record for the largest 24-hour social media conversation volume of all-time with 4.5 million mentions, 2.91 million of which were domestic and beat out Avengers: Endgame's 1.94 million.
